We are delighted to announce that Rose Martinelli is joining the GSB as associate dean for student recruitment and admissions for the full-time MBA program effective May 1, 2005. While Rose finishes the current academic year as director of admissions and financial aid at Wharton, she will serve as a consultant on admissions strategy to the GSB beginning today.

Rose clearly has the knowledge, experience, and global vision to lead our admissions efforts. She will be instrumental in leveraging fully the power of the GSB enterprise - our alumni, corporate partners, faculty, students, and staff. Our objective is to communicate clearly what we value - discipline-based knowledge, rigor, and support - and the extraordinary return on investment realized by Chicago MBAs throughout their diverse careers.

Rose will be responsible for organizing and managing our admissions marketing, recruiting, processing, operations and financial aid functions. She has performed similar duties at Wharton for the past four years. Before that, she spent two years developing and implementing Wharton's admissions recruitment strategy for Asia, the Pacific Rim, and Italy, and rebuilding the school's brand through a redesign of its admissions publications.

Rose brings depth and complementary skills to our excellent team of associate deans responsible for the student services side of our MBA program. She will work closely with Julie Morton, associate dean for MBA career services, Ann Harvilla, associate dean and dean of students, and other members of the senior staff.

Rose is one of the founding members of the Forte Foundation, a national organization that encourages more women to attend business schools. She continues to serve on its board. We are hoping to increase our enrollment of women and underrepresented minorities in the next academic year, and Rose will be a big help in our efforts.

Rose will be on campus later this week to work on our admissions strategy for the coming year.

The arrival of Rose means that Ann Harvilla can once again focus all of her efforts on her important role as dean of students. During the search process, Ann agreed to add the duties of acting associate dean of admissions to her dean of students' responsibilities. In filling both roles, Ann accomplished a great deal and we are extremely appreciative for her tireless efforts on behalf of the GSB.
